NEW DELHI: Heavy rain+ on Wednesday morning again brought Delhi to a standstill, just like it did on Monday, with waterlogging already causing huge traffic snarls in the capital and in NCR.
All flights to and from Delhi have also been delayed, according to reports. More than a dozen flights were delayed at Delhi’s IGI airport and some flights have been diverted to Jaipur.
Civic authorities and Delhi police have asked residents to stay away from the roads as far as possible. It started to pour around 7 am in various parts of Delhi NCR+ and by 9 am water was knee-deep in over a dozen neighbourhoods.
However, this time, US Secretary of State John Kerry+ won’t be stuck in a traffic jam, as his visit to Sisganj Gurudwara, Jama Masjid and Gauri Shankar temple has been cancelled due to heavy rains, reports ANI.
Heavy waterlogging has been reported on Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, W Point, the Loha Mandi to Mayapuri route, Gol Dak Khana, Kali Bari Marg, and the Chirag Delhi to Nehru Place flyover route. In addition, roads in the Modi Mill Flyover, Sadik Nagar, the BRT to Moolchand route, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, and the Nehru Place to Zamrudpur route are also deluged.

Poice are also asking the capital’s residents to avoid the areas of Alipur Village, Okhla Underpass, Jasola Red Light,Saket M.B. Road, Saket Metro Station, Lado Sarai T-Point and the PTS Red Light. Other areas to be avoided are Ring Road Dhaula Kuan, Bhairon Road towards Mathura Road route, IGNOU Road and the IP Flyover towards Sarai 1/3 route.
In Gurgaon+ , traffic movement has been affected in Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, Her also been reported on MG Road, Sikanderpur and DLF phase II areas.
