BENGALURU: Tuesday dawned on Bengaluru with a sense of foreboding, with the Supreme Court slated to take up the Cauvery river water dispute later in the day. Huge contingents of policemen, paramilitary forces and Rapid Action Force stationed at sensitive spots across the city did not help settle the uneasy calm that prevailed.
City police said everything was under control and they were ready for the worst, wiser in the wake of the September 12 violence. Police sources said they had asked banks in the northwest and western pockets of the city to try and complete cheque transactions by 1pm. School managements had issued a set of guidelines to allow children to go home early, in case of any violence or rumours of the same.
