Angered by counsel’s remark, SC orders Sahara’s Subrata Roy back to jail

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court cancelled the interim bail granted to Sahara chief Subrata Roy and two directors after it was angered by senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan’s attempts to “browbeat” the judges through “intemperate” arguments to stall any adverse order against his clients.

The bench asked Roy and the two directors -Ashok Roy Choudhary and Ravi Shanker Dubey -to surrender in Tihar Jail by September 30. However, they would not be taken into custody immediately as the court accepted an “apology from the core of their hearts” and agreed to hear their plea for mercy on September 28.
